Alcohol- a non-nutrient- nutrient
The consumption of alcohol is a topic of debate, however, consumed responsibly, it can be a part of any healthy diet. Those who wish to consume alcohol can benefit from adhering to the Dietary Recommendations for Americans (see box above) and for athletes they may find that further limiting alcohol beverages can aid in improving athletic performance. People who have difficult sleeping may also benefit from limiting alcohol , which has been found to inhibit sleep cycles.
